I feel exactly the same way as you OP. The way I've always thought about the issue can be summed up with that old George Carlin quote, "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that." In other words, I think that in smaller communities like ours, it's easier to see these complete idiot weirdos because of how relatively few people there are in this community. But the truth is that these people are everywhere, all around us, all the time... *Shudder*.

I've been around since the days of Yahoo Groups, where Curvage was called Fatcelebs and was a Yahoo group as well. So my guess is somewhere around 15 to 20 years? The biggest change I've seen is just how many women are actively involved in the community, posting progress pictures and comments. It's a relative cornucopia of content these days, it's amazing. Back in the day, we had to scour picture storage/sharing websites for pictures of someone who just ate a big meal and we were damn grateful for it, lol.

Trigger warning, this post is talking about sex and sexuality through a purely pleasure-based objectifying lens, and doesn't discuss anything having to do with emotional connection during sex. Recently I've been talking to my therapist about my sexual proclivities that lots of us share: belly worship, weight gain, fatness, etc. And I talked about my sexual fantasies: making my wife gain weight, rubbing her belly, having over people comment on her weight gain, etc and notably these fantasies didn't actually involve sex at all in any form (I will clarify that in this post when I say "sex" I am saying that as shorthand for genital stimulation). After that discussion, my therapist hit me with a thought provoking question about my fetish and fantasies. He asked "are you and your penis involved in my of this?" When I thought a bit about it, I had to concede that my fantasies were pretty "one way". All of the attention was on my wife. Her body, her doing things to her body, other people thinking about her body and so on. Don't get me wrong, sex feels great and is a great release, but it's not the main focus of my sexuality. For example, my friends might say "my wife is so hot, I can't wait to have sex with her tonight". Sex is the main event for them. For me, the thought goes more like "my wife is so hot, I can't wait to rub her belly tonight" or something like that. Her body is the main event and sex is kind of just a nice way to wrap up the whole sexual experience. It got me thinking: how does everyone else feel about sex? Is sex the primary driver of your sexuality? Or is sex more of an afterthought or otherwise not your main drive? How do you integrate sex into the other activities of this fetish? TLDR: how important is sex/intercourse/genital stimulation to your overall sexuality and how do you integrate it with your fat fetish or fat preferences?

My understanding of the difference between a preference and a fetish/paraphilia is this: Do you PREFER fat girls but you could conceivably have a sex life with a girl who is not fat? Then that's not a fetish/paraphilia. Can you ONLY have orgasms and/or a satisfying sex life with fat girls? Then that's a fetish/paraphilia. For example, I don't just prefer fat girls. I literally cannot bring myself to orgasm without my partner being fat. In my eyes I have a fetish/paraphilia. Plenty of dudes go home with that chicks from the bar at the end of the night. They'd PREFER if they were skinny, sure, but by golly they'll make it happen with that girl. If I went home with a skinny chick at the end of the night, then we're both in for a bad time.
